As a child I watched it, as a teenager I watched it, and as an adult I watch it.  It being farmers constantly following the leader.  If one farmer (neighbor) began picking cotton they all started picking cotton.  And, if another neighbor began to pick grapes they all started to pick grapes. This theme holds true as well for other agricultural commodities.  Yet our federal government enlists the services of agricultural scientists to help facilitate local farmers in the use of technology for making sound decisions when deciding what, when, where, and how to practice prudent farming.  Practicing follow the leader makes absolutely no sense to me.
